Life is getting complex day by day. Alarming complexity of modern society poses a variety of complicated problems leading to conflicts, frustration, unhealthy rivalry etc. that result in value crisis and serious maladjustment among adolescent children. In such a complex society, the individual has to face many problems in life for a better adjustment in a social structure. Globalization process and information technology have significantly changed the way people work. The students need to counter act problems and situations in all walks and phases of life. But the students are not mature enough to critically evaluate baffling situations are continuously faced with. They need somebody to help in the solution of problems and thus avoids tensions and conflicts. The need for guidance and counseling in modern times has increased because of the multiplicity of problems that the individuals have to face in the various domains of life. In the context of changing sociocultural scenario the repertoire of guidance and counseling has been increasing at an unexpected speed because counseling help for optimum achievement and adequate adjustment in the varied life situation.
